Reindeer live in the cold North. Since the daylight in the North is short-lived and the summer is very short, only some plants have beautiful flowers that bloom very quickly.
Mosses and Lichens
The most frost-resistant plants are mosses and lichens, which are represented by many species. They grow on the ground, decorating it like a green fluffy carpet, and are excellent food for reindeer.
In the mountains
There are plants in the mountains, where it is very cold. They grow right under the snow.
Coniferous trees - larch and spruce grow in the forests of the cold zone. In autumn, the spruce does not drop its needles, thin and sharp, covered with wax, which protects them like clothes. And larch drops needles, like all deciduous trees - leaves.
Bent branches
The tops of conifers have sharp ends and resemble the roofs of mountain huts. The branches of firs and pines are very flexible, so when a lot of snow falls, they do not withstand its severity and bend to the ground.
Long sleep
Many representatives of the green world, growing in a cold climate, sleep in winter. When spring comes to the North and ice melts in the hot sunshine, plants "wake up", but for a very short time. Nevertheless, vegetables and fruits have time to ripen, but the crop must be harvested very quickly, in just a few days.
Creeping plants
Some plants of the tundra or high mountains protect themselves from the cold, clinging to the ground in order to absorb as much of the heat that the harsh nature gives for a short summer time. In addition, in this way they manage to protect themselves from strong winds, which can tear them off the ground.
